Silver Alert issued for 82-year-old missing Kerrville woman

KERRVILLE, Texas (KXAN) — The Kerrville Police Department is searching for a missing 82-year-old woman last seen Sunday afternoon.The Texas Department of Public Safety issued a Silver Alert for Betty Matter, who was last seen at 1655 Junction Hwy. in Kerrville. She is described as 5'6", 210 pounds, with brown eyes and gray hair. She was last seen wearing a red, white and blue shirt, black pants, blue socks and red shoes, as well as uses a walker.The vehicle affiliated with Matter's alert is described as a white 2006 Lexus LX 470 model, with the license plate number BGT2738.Anyone with information regarding Matter is asked to contact Kerrville PD at 830-257-8181.

New York fireworks in question due to weather

N.Y. (NEWS10) -With rain on the forecast for the holiday weekend, fireworks being able to light up the night sky are in the question. In the Town of Berne, pyrotechnics are making sure to put weather first."Thunderstorms, we do try to avoid at all costs. If there’s a chance of rain or a lot of rain, we usually cover up these shells with plastic before we shoot," explained Pyrotechnic for Santore’s World Famous Fireworks, Peter Decuyper. The Scotia Fireworks show presented by Jumpin’ Jack’s lights up Freedom Park Once that plastic is removed and conditions are clear, the shells are ready to show their true colors. Crews work to contain wildfire in Arcadia

Firefighters were working to contain a slow moving and hard to reach wildfire in Arcadia on Sunday, authorities announced.  Crews with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to reports of the Chantry Fire, burning in the Santa Anita Canyon, north of the dam on the east side of the canyon, at around 4 p.m. The two-acre fire was burning in “sparse fuels” in the 2020 Bobcat Fire area. By 5 p.m., the fire had grown to just under 4 acres in steep, rocky terrain with high temperatures making it difficult for crews to access the area, officials with the Angeles National Forest Service said.  By 7:30 p.m., officials reported that the crews had managed 50% containment, thanks to hotshot crews with the United State Forestry Service, as well as L.A. (BCN) -- A car flipped over on eastbound Interstate 80 in Richmond around 6:24 p.m. Sunday. Smoke from encampment fire visible on Highway 280 in San Francisco An SUV was blocking the middle lanes just before Macdonald Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol. Responders pulled an injured man from the vehicle who was conscious, according to the CHP. It’s game on for a new, yet-to-be named women’s pro hockey league to launch in January after union members cleared the final major hurdle on Sunday by unanimously ratifying a collective bargaining agreement and a constitution, a person with direct knowledge of the vote told The Associated Press.The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the Professional Women’s Hockey Players’ Association has not announced the result of the vote conducted by its 97 members. The ratification effectively clears the way to launching the new league, which will bring together the top female stars in North America, with the potential to attract Europe and Asia’s best, as well.The CBA runs through 2031, and having one in place before the league begins play marks a first for professional women’s sports in North America. DENVER (KDVR) -- Three people were injured and a suspect was in custody after a shooting Sunday night in Thornton.The shooting happened in the 9500 block of Pecos Street just before 8 p.m. Three victims were found and taken to local hospitals for their injuries.The extent of the victim's injuries was unknown.An adult male was taken into custody without incident.Witnesses told FOX31's Shaul Turner that the incident might have been over a parking spot.
